Question: What are some of the characteristics of False
Prophets?
Answer:
Matthew
7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew
7:16
Ye shall know them by their fruits.....
But what "fruits" exactly are
going to work for this, since we also
have this later on in Matthew?
Matthew
7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy Name? And in the Thy Name have cast out Devils? And
in thy Name done many wonderful works?
Matthew
7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from
me, ye that work iniquity.
Plus this in Mark:
Mark
13:22
For false christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show
signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
False Prophets are seen to:
- display signs and wonders,
- cast out
devils (deliverance)
- make at least some prophecy-like declarations that came
true
- do many wonderful works
- in some cases spend their lives, all the way up until
they die, believing they are Real Prophets.
These things are not
fruits that can be used to determine who is a False Prophet and who is
a True Man of God. Both False Prophets and Real ones can do
these things.
